Nobody ever told you
that you get to choose
which accent you speak
when reducing your foreign one.
You know your starting point, your foreign accent. But do you know where you're headed? What you actually want to sound like once the work is done? Most people never stop to ask, let alone realize it's a choice they get to make.
In accent reduction, there's no neutral endpoint. Reducing your foreign accent doesn't mean you work towards acquiring a generic, accent-free English. The idea of a neutral English is a major red flag; accent reduction always replaces the foreign features of your speech with native features of another, distinctive accent.
Therefore, to successfully reduce your foreign accent, you need to decide on your target accent: how you want to sound at the end, which accent you want to speak in. The only question is whether you actually chose which one.

TRUST YOUR GUT.
If an accent secretly lights you up, that reaction is data. The map shows you how to trust it, and why it's the most sustainable starting point.
PATH 2
OR RUN THE NUMBERS.
No pull? Three factors - your market, your residency, your future direction - point you to the right accent. Every time.
THE RESULT
YOUR DESTINATION.
You close the map knowing exactly which accent you're working toward. And why every hour of practice from here counts.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Non-native English speakers who are done guessing.
Executives, founders, and creators who know their accent is something they want to work on, but haven't started yet because they don't know where to point their effort.
Also for anyone who has already started and suspects they might be heading in the wrong direction. It's never too late to choose deliberately.
A PERSONAL NOTE
My first English teacher relentlessly tried to correct my attempts at a US American accent in favor of a British one. Unfortunately for her, I was more stubborn: there was no way I was gonna practice a British accent when I was determined I'd move to the United States. Ironically, twenty years later, I'm living in England — but best believe I'm choosing to use whichever accent of the two gives me the most authority and influence in every room I walk into. That's the power of deciding over your own voice.
